ABOUT WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION

The team you will be a part of:

  • The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This role in summary:

The Performance System Manager - EMEA - is located on the Performance Subsystem. The primary function of this role is to deliver system level performance vs requirements for all EMEA laundry products.

This role directly manages the cycle design, ramp and extraction and setting file teams to deliver integrated solutions to system level requirements and attribute targets.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Work collaboratively within our team and across process partners and other subsystems to deliver robust system level solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Work with each team member on development plans to help advance capabilities and career growth opportunities.
  • Work with planning and scoping leads to develop a resource plan each year to support business plan and development needs for the future.
  • Work with team members to manage priority and aid in conflict resolution to keep team on track to deliver on commitments.
  • Work collaboratively with labs and external agencies to develop standards and measurement methods to ensure robust validation of solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with Quality and Manufacturing to assure requirements are documented, in control and sustainable for long term quality.
  • Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership for our machines in each market.
  • Mentor junior staff in design processes and core competencies required including Design for Safety, Project Management, APQP, Systems Engineering and WPD.

Minimum requirements:


  • B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in system level performance attribute management, stakeholder management, and people leadership.
  • Proficient knowledge and demonstrated use of FMEA methodology, Systemic problem solving and ability to to use critical thinking to organize work.
  • Experience in designing solutions that meet regulatory (UL) and Safety requirements.
  • Experience in use of simulation based design tools.

Preferred skills and experiences:


  • M.S. in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally and globally.
  • Proficient knowledge of Risk Management and Project Management.
