Supply Chain Lead Renewable - Italy


The Energy Onshore Renewable Power business in Shell is developing quickly and is actively pursuing many projects opportunities across Europe, with Italy being a core market.

The team has indeed created a 2 GW of very mature solar projects across the country (20+ projects fully permitted) and is now transitioning from 3 years of value-accretive growth to delivering projects to COD.

In 2023 the company is planning to start construction on 7 projects.


This is a front-line role working with the EU Onshore Power Supply Chain Manager and other Supply Chain colleagues to support a number of Business Opportunity Managers (BOMs), the Italy Onshore Power EPC Delivery Manager(s), Engineering Discipline and project managers for individual Onshore Wind, Solar and/or Storage opportunities.


The role will be critical to helping shape and manage the supply chains, including but not limited to PV modules / BESS, Owner's Engineering, PV / HV EPCs, O&M, Inverters, Trackers, Transformers, etc.

Having a deep understanding or willingness to learn about the Green Deal Industrial Plan, EU Forced Labour Ban, Tax Equity and several other EU / Italy specific Onshore Power regulations, along with other Shell global Onshore Power initiatives, will be critical to the success.


Main responsibilities:

  • Implementation of Global Strategies at local/regional level;
  • Conduct tenders evaluate bids & drive negotiations with Suppliers in accordance to the CMCP as an overall 'guidance';
  • Ensure delivery & effectively manage contracts while continuously drive value improvement targets;
  • Identify, develop & implement supply chain improvement opportunities;
  • Ensure Supply Chain Strategy supports Goal Zero Aspiration through implementation of robust Contractor Safety Management practices and alignment to Shell's personal and process safety Goal Zero focus areas;
  • Implementation of Contractor HSSE practices in close liaison with Contract Managers/Holders and Owners;
  • Proactively identify & understand commercial/procurement needs from internal stakeholders and collaboratively propose competitive solutions. This may involve constructively challenging the Business Demand and/or Procurement Practices in order to drive value and efficiency for the organization;
  • Manage Supplier Relationship: effectively and collaboratively drive continuous performance improvement via relevant contract key metrics (HSSE, Operations, Cost);
  • Connect across the global Contract Procurement (CP) Onshore Power team, and the wider CP organization (e

g:
Offshore Power, CP Projects CoE, CMMS, CP IT, etc.) to ensure continuous cross sharing and leverage of best practices;

  • Build effective working relationships with others and makes a constructive contribution within immediate team;

Dimensions:


This role will help deliver EU Renewable Onshore Power projects, with primary focus on Italy, supporting delivery in emerging opportunities and powering the business agenda.


Deliver Contract Procurement support to multiple opportunities in the funnel from a category/ business development / pre-DG3 perspective and work in the deal teams to mature, win and deliver these.

As the opportunities vary in size, focused and efficient support will be critical. They range from very small requirement to larger greenfield projects.

There will be a focus on concrete growth opportunities in Italy and broader EU.


This position reports directly to the EU Supply Chain Manager Onshore Power and will work closely with the other Italy Supply Chain roles.


Requirements:

A Contract Procurement professional with commercial experience, high capacity and a strong performance history is required. The individual is expected to be well-versed in project Contract Procurement, as this role will deliver / co-deliver hands-on Contract Procurement support to projects (e.g. run EPC, OEM, O&M tenders, etc.)

  • Experience in managing procurement for renewable energy companies;
  • Commercial minded to help identify and mature opportunities, as well as win and deliver projects within budget and on schedule;
  • Passionate about the energy transition and Shell's role in it;
  • Fluent in Italian and English;
  • A degree level (Business/Engineering) or proven experience within CP;
  • Must be selfmotivated with an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines;

  • Experience with management of performance and outcomebased contracts (i

e:
incentive schemes, performance guarantees) like EPC and O&M contracts;

  • Contract Procurement experience in NBD, M&A and/or JVs is a plus;
