Marine & Offshore Surveyor (Ship New Building)

Role Summary:


As part of your role, you will be part of a team of four professionls dedicated to delivery service (Ship New Building) in accordance with LR and Statutory requirements.


Main Responsibilities:

Conduct ships surveys of all types during construction phase
Provide good control of projects, including communicating with clients, financial control and timely and accurate reporting;

Conduct relevant activities as agreed in personal training plan with the aim of increasing knowledge and competency in the execution of survey and other related work.

Assist the direct manager in producing deliverables against defined specifications and scope that will include budget constraints and contractual requirements.

Discuss and present LR services to internal clients initially, external clients at a later stage, and be able to suggest solutions to problems, as appropriate.

Appreciate the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client by understanding and assisting with survey fee calculations and quotations.

Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriate.
Produce reports, certificates and documents to an agreed format and within agreed timescales.
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.

Assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client and to assist in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure.

Contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately.
Ensure the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity Monitoring.
Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.


Key Health & Safety Responsibilities:


Manage your own and your team's compliance with health and safety rules, instructions, systems and legal requirements, ensuring employees are suitably trained and adequate resources are available to work safely.

Monitor and review health and safety performance, observe safety behaviours in the workplace, taking appropriate corrective and preventative action as necessary and suggesting and implementing improvement activities.


Required Qualifications:


A degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd's Register from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's Engineer officer.

Preferably over 3 years of relevant industry experience in a multinational organization.
Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent). Ability to work in accordance to professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
Excellent command (written and oral) in English and Italian language using relevant professional terminology.
Understanding of technical and commercial management principles, e.g. project management, process management.
European Driving License.
Ability and willingness to travel mainly within the area above and on a case by case basis.


Preferred but not required:

Previous experience in a classification society and exposure to Marine & Offshore field is highly preferred.
Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.

Spoken and written in Italian language.
