WHO WE ARE

At IIT we work enthusiastically to develop human-centered Science and Technology to tackle some of the most pressing societal challenges of our times and transfer these technologies to the production system and society.

Our Genoa headquarter is strictly inter-connected with our 11 centers around Italy and two outer-stations based in the US for a truly interdisciplinary experience.

YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a multicultural group, where computational scientists and molecular biologists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

We aim to understand how non-coding elements (DNA/RNA) and their epigenetic/epitranscriptomics modifications regulate 3D genome architecture and gene expression in stem cells and cancer models.

To address this question, we use cutting-edge chromatin conformation assays such as Hi-C, Hi-ChIP and Pore-C in conjunction with other -omics techniques (e.g. ChIP-seq, TT-seq, scRNA-seq) and in combination with CRISPR-based genetic and epigenetic engineering tools.

The final goal is to understand how ncRNAs can induce and/or maintain 3D promoter-enhancer contacts, which ultimately determines the transcriptional program that dictates stemness and tumorigenesis.

Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Perform experiments in the area of 3D chromatin conformation, stem cells, non-coding RNAs and epitranscriptomics.
  • Use advanced molecular biology techniques for the manipulation of chromatin, RNA, DNA and proteins.
  • Assist in generating preliminary data and figures for grant proposals
  • Supervise and mentor junior members of the team

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE

  • A PhD in Biology including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Genetics
  • Previous experience in stem cell culture and advanced molecular biology techniques
  • Knowledge of NGS technologies, including but not limited to CHIPseq, RNAseq, ATACseq etc
  • A strong publication record
  • Excellent command in spoken and written English

EXTRA AWESOME

  • Experience in 3D chromatin conformation assays (e.g. Hi-C and Hi-ChIP etc)
  • Previous research experience in RNA biology (noncoding RNAs is a plus)
  • Ability to perform genomic and epigenomic editing techniques in stem cells using CRISPR(d)Cas technologies
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary package for international standards
  • Private health care coverage
  • Wide range of staff discounts

WHAT'S IN FOR YOU?

  • An equal, inclusive and multicultural environment ready to welcome you with open arms. Discrimination is a big NO for us
