Our R&D team represents a fundamental asset for the business.

It is divided into integrated functional areas focusing on pipeline projects including discovery and preclinical research, chemical manufacturing and controls, drug delivery technology, clinical development, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, intellectual property, quality assurance, R&D project and portfolio management.

Who we are looking for

Purpose


As head of the Research Project Generation Unit within the Pipeline Innovation Department the individual will contribute to maintain and expand a competitive portfolio of preclinical projects for our Global Research and Preclinical Development fucntion by managing the process leading ideas into new research project.

Main Responsibilities

The individual will drive the generation of new project proposal in line with the innovation and therapeutic area disease strategy, having the following main duties:

  • Facilitating the flow of ideas and their ripening into concepts and project proposals.
  • Design and managing call for idea campaigns supporting the definition of objectives, coordination of the working group, moderation of activities and summary of results.
  • Supporting the presentation of ideas, concepts and research proposal in decisionmaking steps, with compelling communication materials, including presentations to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promoting initiatives that spread the culture of innovation, increase involvement, change the attitude towards risk and entrepreneurship.
Experience Required

  • Extensive scientific and drug discovery experience, preferably obtained through >7 year experience in multiple functions in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Deep experience and knowledge of global drug discovery and early development activities, with an excellent understanding of all aspects of preclinical drug discovery preferably on multiple therapeutic modalities, including biotherapeutic modalities such as for example xRNA and protein therapeutic.
  • Multiyear successful track record of identifying, implementing and managing novel projects
Education

  • PhD degrees in Pharmaceutical sciences
Languages

English Fluent

Technical Skills

  • Strong scientific expertise in molecular biology, signal transduction, in vitro cellular assay development, in vivo animal models.
  • Knowledge of the main brainstorming techniques and supporting tools to facilitate idea generation
  • Knowledge of the main techniques to stimulate creativity and collaboration
  • Knowledge of the main methodologies for encouraging participation
  • Knowledge of the operating mechanisms of innovation management platforms for both frontend and backend administration
  • Excellent networking ability in crosscultural environment inside and outside Chiesi
