Job Description Summary:
Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in Accessory Drive Train modules.

In this spirit, we are looking for a talented Lead Design Engineer expected to become Hardware Owner of Accessory Drive Train (ADT) components, supporting design activities within Services Engineering organization.

The position is requiring leadership and important involvement into design activities for production support, redesign activities, design change, investigation for field issues and a collaboration with the Manufacturing and Supply Chain departments, including also activities aimed to improving product manufacturability and producibility.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Build and strengthen technical expertise in aeronautical components.
  • Support component design activities, with particular focus on module aspects, to achieve the objectives of performance, manufacturability, cost, and life.
  • Lead and support System Engineer on investigations activities to understand root cause and final fixing of field issues
  • Manage Quality Notifications (QN) for Gearbox components, (i.e., how to manage defective components).
  • Lead the issuing of technical documents (i.e. models, drawings, reports, specifications) relative to Accessory Drive Train Module.
  • Proactively lead activities with other Company departments (i.e., Supply Chain, Quality, Product Support) and Suppliers to achieve producibility and manufacturability targets.
  • Lead Design Reviews in cooperation with chief engineer office.
  • Support Source Substantiation (Validazioni Tecnologiche) activities.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Experience on module aspect related to gearbox module (ADT)
  • Good knowledge of fundamental mechanical design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculation
  • Have strong engineering outlook, handson engineering foundation and eager to learn
  • Clear thinking, diligent approach, target oriented
  • Willingness to directly interact with several internal and external customers
  • Lead activities focusing on targets
  • Ability to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions
  • Able to prioritize work, and communicate openly in stressful situations
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is require

Desired Characteristics:


  • Passionate, curious, and enthusiastic for engineering challenge
  • Previous experience in a similar role will be a plus
  • Knowledge of CAD software (i.e. Unigraphics) will be a plus
  • System mindset and problem solver
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
