The Opportunity


We are seeking a skilled and experienced DWH Architect to join our Data Management team for an exciting M2C (Move to Cloud) project.

In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing our current on-premises DWH Oracle architecture, proposing re-engineering solutions to reduce complexity, and designing a new architecture on the Google Cloud platform, specifically utilizing BigQuery as the data warehouse.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of our data infrastructure and play a crucial role in shaping our cloud-based DWH.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of our existing onpremises DWH Oracle architecture, including the assessment of different staging layers and presentation layers.
  • Identify areas of improvement and propose reengineering strategies to streamline and simplify the architecture.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand business requirements, data flows, and data usage patterns.
  • Design a new cloudbased DWH architecture using Google Cloud, with a specific focus on leveraging BigQuery's capabilities.
  • Develop a Proof of Value (PoV) to showcase the feasibility and benefits of the proposed cloud architecture, highlighting its advantages over the current onpremises setup.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of both Oracle DWH and BigQuery, utilizing this knowledge to optimize data integration, transformation, and storage processes.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and stakeholders to implement the proposed architecture and ensure a successful migration to the cloud.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in DWH technologies, particularly in relation to cloudbased solutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including user manuals, and system specifications.

In practice this means:

  • Strong expertise in DWH architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing data warehouse solutions, with a proven track record of successful projects.
  • Proficiency in Oracle DWH, including knowledge of Oracle database technologies and data modeling techniques.
  • Good expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly in working with BigQuery as a data warehouse solution.
  • Ability to analyze complex data requirements, identify gaps, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, with the ability to think critically and find creative ways to overcome challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Proactive and selfmotivated attitude, with the ability to work independently and drive projects to completion.
  • Relevant certifications in DWH architecture, Oracle, or Google Cloud are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and verbal) with willingness to learn German.
