Organizational Setting


The Finance Division recommends and administers financial policies and procedures that meet the highest professional standards; keeps accounts that accurately record financial activities and meet the requirements of internal and external audits; prepares reports to accurately portray the financial status of the Organization and its activities; ensures that the Organization's financial resources are securely kept and productively employed while in FAO's custody; oversees financial operations wherever performed in the Organization; and ensures that all disbursements are timely and made in accordance with established policies and procedures.

The Credit Union (CU) is a self-funded operation that started in 1954 and which was formally integrated into FAO in January 1976.

The CU helps staff by providing an avenue for their savings as well as extending them credit facilities. It is a convenient, free-of-charge and hassle-free service to help staff members.


Main purpose


The Teller (FAO Credit Union) performs a large variety of routine administrative and financial duties in support of the CU's activities and in particular executes loans and savings related transactions in two currencies and performs the end of day activities.

The incumbent exercises judgment, identifies errors and supports sound financial practice.


Supervision Received/Exercised
The Teller (FAO Credit Union) reports to the Member Services Officer,
CSFU. He/she acts independently on routine matters. Supervision received is focused on the quality of the work performed and provides for on-the-job learning.


Working Relationships


The Teller (FAO Credit Union) interacts with a variety of colleagues within the work unit and with immediate clients served within the Organization, providing routine assistance to promote the effective and efficient delivery of finance-related services.

Key Functions/Results

  • Process member savings and loan transaction requests;
  • Assist members with the CU account opening/closures and online services;
  • Perform support operations (bank reconciliations, depositing credit notes, creating beneficiary account templates, account certificates and other miscellaneous requests);
  • Perform End of Day and Quarterly processing;
  • Liaise with members on matters relating to their CU account;
  • Ensure proper archiving of member's correspondence and filing of the End of Day reports;
  • Update members' records regarding personnel actions;
  • Perform other duties as required.

The incumbent's work impacts on the timely and efficient delivery of financial support services and on the overall output of the work unit.

Working in an efficient, precise and confidential manner strengthens the trust between members and the CU.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
Secondary School Education.

Experience:
Two years of relevant experience in finance/budget-related support work.
