Edoardo Levantino

Appassionato da sempre del mondo del motorsport e dell’automotive, sono un ingegnere, laureato magistrale in Ingegneria dei Veicolo Stradali e triennale in Ingegneria Meccanica.
I miei interessi spaziano molto: dal motorsport a quattro e due ruote, al settore automotive (o, in generale, il mondo dei veicoli stradali e della mobilità). Durante la mia Laurea Magistrale ho svolto l'attività della Formula Student, le cui numerose esperienze e attività permettono di migliorare la mia conoscenza del settore automobilistico e applicare le competenze sviluppate negli studi universitari in un contesto molto interessante e appassionante.
In futuro mi piacerebbe lavorare nel motorsport come ingegnere di pista o nel settore automotive, in particolare nei campi di sperimentazione, simulazione, sviluppo e/o progettazione meccanica, rimanendo comunque nel contesto della dinamica del veicolo.

I've been hugely fascinated by motorsport and cars since I was only a little kid, and I've always had some level of creativity for solving problems in an engineering way: thus, the start of my journey in vehicle and mechanical engineering was only a matter of time. During my university period, my passion grew stronger and stronger, and in 2021 I joined the Formula Student team of my university. Since then, I have been amazed at how much work it takes to design a car and, above all, make it successful.
I have found that for me the testing activities (on the track and in the simulator), for the validation and
optimisation of the vehicle's performance, but also the development and design phases play a crucial role in the success of a project (expecially in vehicle dynamics field): the high level of challenge fuels me and pushes me to give my best.
As a motivated problem solver and diligent learner, I achieved a high level of knowledge in vehicle and
mechanical engineering. This knowledge comes from university courses and personal experiences, and I want to talk more about these last ones, which are my Formula Student experience and my actual work position.
Because of my great passion, I joined my university's FS team as a Vehicle Dynamics design engineer, in the Steering System sub-division. The start was crucial to me, as I learned how to manage the work and my approach to it. Pushed by the passion for motorsport and the will to do everything in my possibility to make the team grow, I filled the role of "Steering system" Division Leader after just one year and the position of Vehicle dynamics R&D engineer the following year. During my first year, we obtained an excellent result, the win at FSAE Italy 2022 in the category "Class 3". Being on this team has taught me many things I cannot comprehensively list, the main ones are organizing teamwork, new tools and software useful for motorsport application, and the global approach to the design and the test and validation process of big projects.
As for what it regards my actual work position at Meccanica 42, it is also an incredible opportunity that is allowing me to develop some high-value knowledge.
My trainee period was really fundamental for me to understand how processes and project are managed form a great player of the automotive industry, also learning deeper techniques for modeling, calibration and validation through test. My role as a sales engineer, instead, gave me the opportunity to get in touch with a lot of great players of the automotive and motorsport industry, and to further perfection myself as a project manager, since I had the task to take care of defining the system architecture and the process to manage complex projects.
Moreover, during this period I had the opportunity to have unique experiences from which I learnt a lot and which I became strongly passionate about. In particular, during the opening event of the Abu Dhabi
Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) in the Yas Marina F1 Circuit, I was part of the team that provided
on-track technical support to the competing teams, representing Meccanica 42 as the competition supplier.
Thanks to all the opportunities I had, I've developed the interpersonal skills required to work in a highly
dynamic environment. I'm not afraid to play high-responsibility roles, and I tend to be a leader if one leader is not already identified. I always give my unbiased opinion; I believe that questioning myself is the only way to grow and move forward.
