Esperienza
Currently, I collaborate as a Research Fellow at the Department of Architecture DIDA at the University of Florence, where I focus on research projects related to territorial and landscape planning. Concurrently, I work as a freelance designer, providing consultancy services on landscape and urban planning projects.
My teaching experience includes lecturing at advanced educational institutions such as the Quasar Institute for Advanced Design and the Pantheon Institute of Design & Technology, where I conduct courses on Green Design and ecological strategies applied to urban planning. These roles have enabled me to develop excellent communication skills and convey complex knowledge in a clear and accessible manner.
Throughout my career, I have collaborated with architectural firms on various projects, such as drafting Environmental Prefeasibility Reports for the new Tibus Bus Station and the masterplan for the city of Riyadh with Cresme Ricerche S.P.A. These experiences have honed my technical skills and project management abilities, demonstrating a strong capacity to work in multidisciplinary teams and meet stringent deadlines.
My participation in international competitions and conferences, along with my publications on urban sustainability and landscape regeneration, attest to my ongoing commitment to the field and my desire to actively contribute to the evolution of landscape and urban planning practices.
Educazione
The most relevant education experience is related to the PhD thesis in wich I made a focus about the issue of linking landscape planning and social action is more topical now than ever before. The centrality of the individual and the public ethics of landscape action are principles that must be believed in and translated into concrete tools. The territory is faced with the challenge of enhancing 'minor' landscapes, places often characterised by a historical and cultural heritage and landscapes of considerable natural and socio-economic value. This scenario requires an approach to landscape that is rooted in perception and identity, recognising the right of communities to protect, appreciate and enhance landscapes that reflect their history and memories, as emphasised by the European Landscape Convention. Landscape planning and design are therefore key tools for enhancing the potential of places, promoting solutions and transformations guided by a still not fully active community participation. This approach implies a transition from a top-down to a bottom-up vision, where local initiatives can trigger changes on a larger scale. The research set itself the challenge of experimenting with a new approach to landscape design. The exploration of top-down and bottom-up practices led to the comparison of typological cases of landscape design triggered by different processes in two regions, Tuscany and Sicily. The experimentation stems from the need to integrate these two approaches to develop 'PAESAGGIOCOMUNITÀ' projects, which link the linear landscape heritage to built and lived elements, emphasising the importance of a multi-disciplinary and multi-criteria approach in the definition of multi-disciplinary landscape projects, revealing how the enhancement of cultural and natural heritage requires a holistic vision that integrates physical, social, economic and ecological dimensions, with a strong involvement of local communities in the process, not only from a decision-making point of view but rather an active integration in the formation of landscape plans.
