Rowan Foster-Sutherland

I started out as a school counselor, however my training and specialization as a Registered Counselor was in trauma, whereby I completed an internship at a trauma center in SA. I later branched into addiction. I was the outpatient coordinator and facilitator at a drug rehabilitation center. I also gave psychoeducational lectures and occasionally inpatient counseling. During this time, I was also developing myself as a psychometrist which I became certified for. My focus in psychometry was in educational assessment, but I was also trained in industrial or work psychometry. I took on fulltime employment at a school for learning disorders, where I served as a counselor and psychometrist. Whilst working at this school (Protea School), I became skilled and trained in play therapy and numerous other approaches to child and adolescent counseling and therapy. My training and experience also focused on pervasive developmental disorders. 

I made the difficult decision to leave SA to pursue a highest order of psychological training and experience that I could obtain. My education in neuroscience and neuropsychology has been unique and brilliant, with learning opportunities that were previously unavailable to me. I did an internship at the University Hospital of Padova in the neurology unit, where I was trained and taught neuropsychological assessment, particularly of Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's, and Huntington's Disease. My thesis was on Huntington's disease, where I aimed to investigate the cognitive, motor, and behavioral characterization of the disease stages.
