Yasaman Shamsizadeh

I'm a master's student studying medical biotechnologies at the University of Padova, doing my thesis on antiviral drug discovery. I will be graduating on September 21st and I am actively seeking an internship opportunity starting from November or later. I have a strong passion for this field and I believe my educational background makes me well-suited for this position.

During my bachelor's degree in microbiology, I completed a 6-month voluntary internship as a laboratory assistant. In this role, I supported the lab operations and gained valuable experience.

Additionally, I gained one year of practical experience while working on my bachelor thesis, which focused on the selection of culture media for Streptomyces iranensis. This involved optimizing its growth and metabolite production, as well as analyzing the antimicrobial activities of its metabolites against 10 specific strains of bacteria and fungi.

Furthermore, I undertook an 8-month internship during my master's degree Thesis Project, where I focused on antiviral drug discovery in a laboratory setting.

Overall, my experience includes hands-on work in microbiology labs, assisting with research projects, and contributing to scientific investigations related to microbial growth, metabolite analysis, and antiviral drug development.

I have experience in producing pseudotyped Rabies viruses, specifically Vesicular Stomatitis Virus that produces Rabies Glycoprotein on its surface. Furthermore, I have conducted evaluations of compounds' antiviral activity against this pseudotyped virus through various viral assays, such as Time-of-Addition assays, attachment assays, and entry assays.
