Role Title: Economists / Econometricians / Research Officers

Role Nature: Voluntary

Location: Rome, Italy (Home-based)

The Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) is an international volunteers-led think tank dedicated to leveraging blockchain technology in the global fight against climate change.

We are searching for dedicated volunteers Economists / Econometricians / Research Officers who are passionate about contributing their expertise to address environmental and climate challenges. Ideal candidates will approach their work methodically, possess experience in independent research and analysis, enjoy collaborating with stakeholders, and have a knack for building strategic partnerships. Responsibilities will include managing research projects, conducting economic analysis independently, supporting working group members, preparing reports and materials for presentations, and influencing climate policy on a global scale. Experienced volunteers may be considered for leadership roles like Principal or Senior Research Officer. Prior experience in the insurance industry is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Providing economic/econometric analyses for research projects spanning various sectors such as renewable energy, carbon trading, and biodiversity conservation, especially in developing countries;
• Conducting research using quantitative and qualitative methods;
• Presenting research findings through reports, briefs, concept notes, and presentations;
• Building strategic partnerships and engaging with key stakeholders;
• Representing BCI at meetings, conferences, and events.

Requirements

Education & Training

• Undergraduate degree in (Environmental) Economics, Econometrics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience (required);
• Postgraduate degree or equivalent research background (preferred).

Relevant Experience

• Demonstrated ability in economic/econometric analysis for feasibility studies;
• Experience in target-driven roles;
• Ability to forge positive relationships with stakeholders, particularly in the insurance sector;
• Proven track record of independent and collaborative project leadership; and
• Expertise in academic research design and meeting deadlines.

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Proficiency in economic and econometric analysis;
• Strong organizational and presentation skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
• Knowledge of climate change, finance, blockchain, and artificial intelligence;
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
