Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Safety Risk Manager with an emphasis on Industrial Machine Safety and Safety Systems.

This position is responsible for new and existing product support related to regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized team player with excellent communication skills and good business acumen.

The candidate will have a strong understanding of the regulatory compliance schemes and the process required to specify, test, qualify, document and maintain certifications related to automated packaging equipment and robotic workcell Product Safety, Machine Safety, and Functional Safety compliance for domestic and international markets.

Key job responsibilities Work on a cross functional team to perform and complete Safety & Compliance requirements for equipment/product design Interpret and apply regulations, standards, and Amazon requirements to new technologies/products Reviewing equipment, including conveyance and machinery for proper guarding, interlocks, and safety features Provide Safety & Compliance input during the product scoping to identify any concerns for operators interacting with the equipment Evaluate and review schematics and drawings providing Safety & Compliance input during product development/early design Leverage Support processes, systems and tools to resolve safety related technical problems Track issues through resolution phase, engaging technical subject matter experts and Safety Manager, as needed Manage, prioritize, and respond to the Packaging Automation team concerns Provide technical guidance to Fulfillment Center (FC) Operations EU & NA Safety and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot operational challenges Provide prompt, efficient, detailed, customer-oriented service to our internal Amazon Customer Create and maintain problem resolution procedures and identify need for new tools to support existing solutions Work with Engineering, Global Support and Amazon EHS teams to understand safety issues and solution options Compile data to facilitate analysis by the Safety team Conduct internal Packaging Automation Meetings, including Design Reviews,Solutions layouts, and Risk Assessments, as required by Safety & Compliance Manager Conduct external Risk Assessment, Design Reviews, Factory/Site Acceptance testing and launch support About the team Our team is mostly a mix of Engineers and Programme Managers.

Specialist support comes from a team of Software and Control Engineers as well as a finance team and business analysts.

We often collaborate on projects with our counter parts in North America and occasionally India and Japan too.

Basic Qualifications Working knowledge and experience in the European Regulations, mainly:


  • Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC o Use of work equipment by workers at work Directive 2009/104/EC o Directive 2006/95/EC (Low Voltage Directive) o Directive 2004/108/EC (electromagnetic compatibility) Solid knowledge and handson experience on main ISO/IEC/ANSI standards, including ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO , ISO 36914, EN 619, ANSI/RIA R15.06 etc. Handson experience in machinery safety activities System, software and safety engineering theoretical knowledge and field experience At least 5 years relevant work experience in product development (design and validation) and regulatory compliance Technical problem solving and analytical skills Experience reviewing equipment, including conveyance and machinery for proper guarding, interlocks, and safety features Experience in equipment safety change management system with integrations to engineering and procurement/supply chain Flexibility to travel up to 30% across Europe. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronic engineering or a related technical field US/Canada safety standards and certification process knowledge and field experience (e.g. with NTRLs) CMSE/CFSE certification Safety software development and testing handson experience. At least 7 years work experience in engineering or manufacturing with highly automated systems and robotics Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
