We research for ABB Electrification Business area, in particular for the Smart Power Division, a Junior Material Engineer for a Testing and Laboratory Technician position in the Material Laboratory of Research and Development Department located in Bergamo, following the develop and managing the validation process on different Low Voltage devices.

The selected candidate will perform, mechanical, chemical tests on low voltage electrical devices on the basis of standards or internal specifications.

This activity in research and development of new products, should be done with special attention and analysis capabilities in order to bring a constructive and active contribution to the development of products.

The test results will be reported in a clear and concise way in a test document.

This position reports to R&D Local Unit LeadYour responsibilities Testing of materials, in according to standard or internal developed testing methods.

Define the details, the test sequences, their methods of execution or testing procedures, the equipment and instrumentation to be used, with reference to the applicable standards prepare the necessary test set-up, the required measure instruments, connect the device under test on the testing plant and execute tests.

Analyze the tests results according to the applicable standard for checking the compliance of the product tested.
Produce and develop activities required for the processing of test reports for tested equipment, and issue the reports.
Support internal customers (R&D mainly), to choose and validate the materials.
Editing technical specifications of materials.
Failure analysis.
Carry out R&D studies on materials field to innovate our products.

Propose improvements in the existing test techniques, based on experience and use of new equipment, in particular for test and measurement equipment.

Support the homologation of new materials in cooperation with the material suppliers.
Work closely with the various offices of the R&D, supply chain, engineering and quality to support innovation processes.
Your background Bachelor or Master Degree (3-5 years) in Materials Engineering or Materials Science as Physics or Chemical field.
Good manual skills.
Good knowledge of Statistical methods for data analysis. Analysis capacity and interpretation of results.
Ability to communicate and to work in teams.
Good networking skill.
Writings Skills.
Good computer skills (office software package and software for mathematical elaboration are a plus ex. Matlab).Good knowledge of English both written and spoken.
Person careful, precise and tidy with a high desire to learn and attitude for problem solving.
Good skill to initiative.
