YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational scientists, physicists, chemists, biotechnologists and biologists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Multiscale and Quantum Simulations Research Line is coordinated by Sauro Succi, who has extensive experience in computational physics.

The research focuses on computational modeling of complex states of flowing matter, such as turbulence and soft matter flows. This activity also includes computational algorithms for quantum computers.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Identify efficient parallelization strategies for computational fluid dynamics problems, with special emphasis on rotating devices.
Identify the impact of different model approximations on the accuracy of the final results and on the computational performance.
Implement the chosen solution according to highly parallel paradigms, such as CUDA.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

A PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science including Mathematics and Chemistry
Documented experience in computational fluid dynamics and Lattice Boltzmann methods
Strong publication record
Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
Documented experience in coaching junior scientists
Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

Experience in HPC programming, possibly on GPU clusters (C, C++,CUDA)
Good communication skills
Strong problemsolving attitude
High motivation to learn
Spirit of innovation and creativity
Good at time and priority management
Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
