General Description of the Role


The Project Manager - Sustainability is part of the Global Engineering team responsible for managing engineering projects and investments across the Global manufacturing network, currently composed of more than 20 plants across the EMEA, AMERICAS, and APAC regions.

The role works closely with manufacturing sites and, as part of cross-functional teams, propose, initiate, coordinate, and implement technical projects of different sizes, aimed at:

  • decreasing Campari's resource (energy and water) consumption
- finding out sustainable solution for spirit distillation waste (dunder, stillage, vinasse)
- achieving Campari's sustainability targets
- developing innovative solutions and technologies


Key Responsibilities

  • Runs technical, economic, and financial analyses and feasibility studies by working on all available levers (machines, materials, and people/organization).
  • Supports the definition of the Sustainability Plan and the priorities to reach Campari's sustainability goals.
  • Manages projects related to the installation/modification/upgrade of new/existing equipment and systems, targeting the carbon neutralization of the Group, the reduction of energy, water utilization, and waste and byproduct generation.
  • Tracks projects results and achievements.
  • Continuously looks for technology and material innovation with special attention to benchmarks, public funds, smart manufacturing, and automation opportunities.
  • Proposes and collects new investments for each plant, related to previous points supporting the next year budget definition; monitors and reports investment status for ongoing and completed projects.
  • Manages external suppliers involved in projects, from tender to contract negotiation and project implementation.
  • Works closely with Plant Directors and the Engineering & Maintenance, HSE, Procurement, Legal, Quality, Production and R&D teams to identify critical issues and areas of investment and development.

Education & Experience

  • University Degree in Energy/Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in engineering projects, preferably in the food & beverage industry.
  • International study or work experience.
  • Knowledge of technologies applied to energy efficiency, energy generation, water and waste management.
  • Previous experience in managing vendors and contractors relationships.

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization: can convey technical matters in an easy way and interact effectively from the shopfloor to senior stakeholders.
  • Problem solver with good Project Management skills.
  • Proven track record of costs controlling & KPIs management.
  • Performance oriented and pragmatic, with change Management skills.
  • Fluent in English and Italian required; Spanish and/or French fluency is a strong plus.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office and Autocad.
  • Willing to align teams and works cross functionally to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Able to travel to Campari main plants (Italy, France, Mexico, Jamaica, USA) on a monthly basis.
