    The Office of the Inspector-General (OIG) provides oversight of FAO's programmes and operations through internal audit and investigations. The Internal Audit Branch (OIGA) carries out assurance and advisory activities designed to add value and improve the Organization's programmes and operations by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The Branch conducts its work in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), including the Code of Ethics and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and adopted by the Internal Audit Services of the United Nations agencies

    Candidates Will Be Assessed Against The Following:

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in data science, information systems, computer science or related field (candidates holding a first-level university degree in the above-mentioned fields may also be considered if possessing two (2) additional years of relevant work experience in delivering data management solutions and a professional certification in data management, data analytics or data science).
  • Three years of experience in delivering data management solutions, using programming languages such as Python, JavaScript or Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate – level B) of one of the other official FAO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
  • Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
  • Work experience in an international setting is desirable.
  • Experience in audit is an asset.
  • Extent and relevance of experience delivering information technology-driven solutions and services, in particular information systems.
  • Demonstrable design knowledge, such as layout, typography, interaction design.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with data visualization tools, such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with business communication platforms, such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with business app development tools, such as Microsoft PowerApps.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with automation of recurring tasks software, such as Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with content management system (CSM) software, such as Microsoft SharePoint.
  • A professional certification in data management, data analytics or data science is an advantage for candidates possessing an advanced university degree.
  • Familiarity with specialized audit software is considered an asset.
