JOB PURPOSE:
To maintain and improve processes in an assigned production area.


JOB DUTIES:


This is a staff position which independently or as part of a team, is designed to maintain or improve manufacturing engineering processes, such as process design, facility layout, work standards, simulations, standard work, manufacturing releasing, facility engineering, Heat Treat Engineering, NC Programming, Tool Design, etc.

Incumbents must maintain awareness of technological advances in processing, material composition, automation of material movement and /or machine capability. This knowledge is used to provide input into project assignments in an assigned area of the shop.

Incumbents are used to analyze and investigate shop problems and follow up on recommendations.

Manufacturing Technicians work within generally defined procedures and guidelines but have the latitude to analyze and solve common manufacturing process problems.

Guidance is available from Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Project Engineers.


The Manufacturing Technician assists with the more complex issues related to determining capital requirements, developing systems or databases, or equipment and systems integration.

Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.


BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
This position requires knowledge of various engineering, manufacturing and /or maintenance standards and practices and various Caterpillar systems.
The ability to utilize a variety of computer software packages is also necessary.

The position typically requires a college or university degree or successful completion of various processing assignments and two to three years experience.
