Verizon Connect is leading the way for a more sustainable future in the transportation business.
In particular, we want to support and guide our customers during the processes connected with the transition to electric vehicles (EVs): from the evaluation of costs and savings, and the estimate of the potential benefits for the environment, to complex optimisation models.
Customers with large fleets, having many EVs or EV-suitable vehicles, want to receive additional support to fully optimise the vehicle charging process in order not only to minimise the charging time and cost, but also to avoid unnecessary disruptions to their business.
You will have the opportunity to understand their needs and frame their problem from a theoretical standpoint, formalising it as an optimisation problem.
You will be based in our Florence office and will work on a flexible hybrid home/office schedule, but you will be part of a global team, with colleagues in different departments and locations.
Your tasks will involve:
- Carrying out literature reviews of relevant problems.
- Formalising the charging problem from a theoretical standpoint.
- Carrying out analyses of large datasets: collecting, analysing, cleaning and verifying data.
- Leveraging Verizon Connect's historical data to validate and test your model.
- Conducting research and proof of concepts.
- Working as part of a cross functional agile development team.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have...
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Pure and Applied Sciences, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Good knowledge of Python.
- Good proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Experience with optimisation problems.
- Experience with visual analysis tools.
Where you'll be working:
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
