PENDING TASK ORDER AWARD

WORK LOCATION


Position is located OCONUS at Aviano AB, Italy; work is being performed at an aircraft depot facility, including occasional flight line operations, hangar and/or aviation field environment.


SUMMARY
Responsible for depot-level modification, upgrade, & test of aircraft sub-systems, ensuring airworthiness. Duties include, but are not limited to, inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic as well as other electrical systems/sub-systems. Examples include radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems/sub-systems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Modifies, upgrades, inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as aircraft installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment
Inspects components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation

  • Tests avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers
  • Using hand tools, adjusts, repairs, and/or replaces defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents
  • When required, calibrates installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications
  • When required, operates ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and air worthiness of avionic and other electrical systems
  • When required, assist in fabricating wiring harnesses
  • Accurately document all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records
  • Must effectively interact with program and customer representatives as well as onsite business or military representatives

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.
  • Due to the Secret Clearance requirement, US Citizenship is required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Graduate of Military electronics/avionics technical school or equivalent
  • At least 6 years of comprehensive aviation experience on the F1
  • Avionic and/or Electrical System USAF
  • Level or equivalent is required.
  • Must meet one of the following requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized related experience
  • An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized related experience
  • A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized related experience
  • 11 years of recent specialized related experience
  • Must have experience with working from blueprint drawings, diagram, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates, and other incomplete data.
  • Current FAA issued FCC License or equivalent certification is preferred
  • 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
