Duties:


  • Oversee implementation and modification of the Nonclassified Internet Protocol Router (NIPR)/Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) network architecture.
  • Develop Local Area Network (LAN), Community Area Network (CAN), and Facility Area Network (FAN) operating procedures and policies.
  • Monitor all ongoing operation of the network environment with a large number of users in a community and ensure corrective action to restore operational service is accomplished.
  • Analyze networking equipment and software, copper/fiber optic cables reliability and utilization reports for large, complex equipment and software systems to identify and correct problem areas and to establish telecommunications performance levels.
  • Survey and evaluate network usage, user complaints, traffic interruptions or other communication issues, hardware and software capabilities, and other relevant factors.
  • Perform indepth analysis of automated and manual systems related to networks and/or telecommunications to accomplish design goals.
  • Establish test criteria and data for network interoperability to ensure all program modules and outputs for assigned project are tested for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare system documentation for complex assignments in accordance with agency, major command, and local standards.

  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid official U.S. Passport.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.

Qualifications:


  • In accordance with AR 69011, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status. In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position to ensure the success of combat operations or to support combat essential systems subsequent to mobilization or an evacuation order. This position is designated as Key. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the mission.   • This position MAY be designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or manmade disaster) the incumbent MAY be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Selected applicant MAY be required to sign a mobility agreement prior to the effective date. By signing the mobility agreement, the individual understands they may be required to relocate (PCS) to another duty station at a later date. If the position is at an organization that is scheduled for closure or the work is scheduled to realign as a result of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), an individual may be required to sign a mobility agreement when selected for the position. For training programs, the mobility agreement commits the Army to providing training, professional development and seasoning assignments, and permanent placement upon graduation or as stipulated in the agreement. In turn, the selectee commits to Armywide geographical availability in order to receive the optimal training, development and/or placement opportunities deemed at the time to be in the best interests of the Army.
