    A Day in the Life

    As a Sr. Systems Engineer - Application Systems you will be part of the Application Systems Engineering Team within the R&D Department.

    You will support the design and development of new products for renal care solutions. You will design , characterize and document technical concept solutions, functional and physical architectures, algorithms and interfaces for complex systems involving software, hardware and mechanical sub-systems.

    You will collaborate and provide inputs to other technical teams within R&D as systems, hardware, software and mechanical engineers.

    This role will be based in Mirandola, but you will be supporting also other countries.

    Hybrid way of working is possible.

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    • Explore, define and refine solution concepts from stakeholder needs.
    • Translate product requirements into functional and physical architectures involving software, hardware and mechanical sub-systems (e.g. sensors, actuators, GUI).
    • Design control and protective algorithms applying functional safety principles and document them through model based systems.engineering diagrams (e.g. activity, state machine, sequence and block diagrams).
    • Analyze patents and perform competitor analysis and reverse engineering.
    • Perform systems analysis and characterizations applying predictive engineering approaches, model based design and tests on prototypes.
    • Work closely with cross-functional team, including design reviews with various engineering disciplines to ensure the design meets the product requirements, including safety, reliability and manufacturability.
    • About 10-20% travel involved.

    Must Have:

    • Master degree or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years experience in system and subsystem level hardware and software design & development

    Nice to Have:

    • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods and tools for requirement engineering, concept engineering and systems architectures (Enterprise Architect or similar and SysML language)
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others on cross-functional and global teams
    • Experience in control algorithms and interface design involving actuators (e.g. pumps, valves) and sensors (e.g. pressure, temperature, flow).
    • Proficiency in modeling and simulation with Matlab/Simulink
    • Proficiency in AI and expertise in the design of artificial intelligence algorithms
    • Proficiency in application of Functional Safety in Medical Devices (IEC 60601, IEC
    • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma or related product development processes (e.g. DOE, Montecarlo Analysis)
    • Familiarity with medical device regulatory environment including FDA regulations and guidance such as QSR, GMP, Usability
    • Familiarity with intellectual property and patent analysis and application
    • Knowledge of statistical tools for prediction and data analysis (Minitab or similar)
    • Knowledge of SVN versioning tools (Svn, Git or similar)
    • Knowledge of issue tracking tools (JIRA or similar)
