Postdoctoral Research Position in Distributed Control Systems for Sustainable Development
We are seeking highly motivated and accomplished postdoctoral researchers to contribute to our research group focused on developing innovative methodologies for distributed, decentralised, and reliable control systems.
Our team operates within the Laboratory of Industrial Automation at the University of Genoa, with a strong emphasis on applied research, academic output, and collaborations with industry and public institutions.
The selected candidates will have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research, access state-of-the-art facilities, and collaborate on projects addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges.
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of professors Roberto Sacile, Simona Sacone, Enrico Zero, Cecilia Pasquale, and Silvia Siri, leading experts in advanced control systems and their applications.

Research Project
Developing robust and scalable control structures for complex, networked, and dynamic systems is a key area of focus. The research involves utilising cutting-edge control strategies like multi-agent systems, optimisation under uncertainty, and AI-driven decision-making to increase system resilience, lower environmental impact, and boost energy efficiency.
Main Topics of Focus
Water resource management, smart grids, urban transportation, sustainable agritech solutions, and renewable energy systems are among the main topics of focus. The subject also explores autonomous system coordination, real-time data integration, and the concepts of the circular economy to promote innovation in engineering techniques that support sustainable development.
Research Group Expertise
The research group leverages interdisciplinary approaches, combining industrial automation principles with optimization techniques, simulation models, and decision-support tools. A key area of expertise is the transport of dangerous goods, encompassing risk evaluation and mitigation strategies to ensure safety and sustainability.
Requirements
Postdoctoral candidates shall have a maximum of 8 years of postdoctoral research experience and must not have resided or carried out their main activities in Italy (for European Fellowship) or in the Third Country of the outgoing phase (for Global Fellowship) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline.
