R&D Software Funcional Analyst - Medacta Applied Solutions:
Due to the high growth and commitment to technology, Medacta Applied Solutions, a Software Company of the Medacta International Group based in Milan, is seeking for a Functional Analyst / UX & Requirements Engineer to join our software development team. This team is responsible for creating preoperative planning software for orthopaedic surgeries. The selected candidate will work closely with Product Managers, software developers, QA, and other stakeholders to identify, formalize, and document software requirements, transforming user and clinical needs into clear functional specifications, wireframes, and logical flows.
This role is key to ensuring that software features are well-defined, unambiguous, and verifiable, contributing to higher product quality, more accurate development estimates, and reduced rework during implementation. The Functional Analyst will also support verification activities, ensuring that implemented features meet the intended requirements.
The candidate will be responsible for managing the following activities:
collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and refine software requirements based on user, clinical, and business needs;
translate requirements into clear functional documentation, including:
user stories and functional specifications;
wireframes and UI mockups;
logical flow diagrams and state diagrams.
define and document edge cases, error scenarios, and exceptional conditions, with particular attention to usability and safety;
act as a functional reference point for the development team, clarifying requirements during implementation;
participate in verification and validation activities, reviewing implemented features to ensure alignment with documented requirements;
support QA activities by contributing to acceptance criteria and test scenarios;
maintain documentation consistency throughout the software lifecycle, managing updates and changes to requirements.
The resource should also have the following skills:
Hard Skills
Bachelor's or master's degree in biomedical engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical/scientific field;
fluent in English;
experience or strong interest in functional analysis, UX design, or requirements engineering for software applications;
previous experience working in cross-functional teams involving product, development, QA, regulatory, and clinical stakeholders.
ability to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using major tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Balsamiq, , Lucidchart, Miro);
strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and traceable functional documentation;
attention to detail and ability to consider all functional scenarios, including edge cases and error handling;
basic understanding of software development processes and the ability to work closely with developers.
