HT is a new interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, whose aim is to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational and structural biology and neuroscience, as well as data and decisions sciences.

The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a
Bioinformatician:

  • Scientific Computing
    Support. The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is in the first phase of building its core IT Infrastructure and the team that will be responsible for the implementation and continued maintenance of various IT systems, with a focus on scientific software and services and supporting computational researchers in their daily activities. This position is placed within the HT IT Team and reports to the Scientific Computing Support Manager.

(S)He will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Deployment, configuration and management of scientific software and services;
  • Deployment and management of Bioinformatics pipelines;
  • End user training on programming languages, scientific software and tools;
  • End user support tasks.
  • University degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related fields;
  • 3 Years of experience in a similar role;
  • Strong working knowledge of R and Bioconductor;
  • Strong working knowledge of Python, Biopython or equivalent projects;
  • Strong knowledge of the main bioinformatics data types and formats;
  • Working knowledge with main bioinformatics tools (Bedtools, Samtools, BWA, STAR, Cellranger etc);
  • Working knowledge of Nextflow and/or Snakemake;
  • Working knowledge of containers technologies (Docker and/or Singularity);
  • Working knowledge with Git, Github and/or Gitlab;
  • Working knowledge with a job scheduling system. SLURM will be considered an asset;
  • Orientation to interpersonal relations and teamwork;
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Italian.

Nice to Have:


  • Working experience with Posit (previously RStudio Workbench) and/or Galaxy Project;
  • Working experience with Statistical Analysis and/or Machine Learning;
  • Working experience as administrator of HPC systems;
  • Working experience in publicly funded or private research institutes;
