AIG's underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients and High Net Worth individuals.


We are looking for an experienced Financial Lines Underwriter who could work with different distribution channels and with a focus on developing the portfolio in a profitable way.

About the role

Based in our Milan office located in the heart of the city, you will be part of our team of enthusiastic professionals.

You will be responsible for handling new business and renewing existing books of Cyber business. You will be fundamental in creating underwriting excellence and profitability for AIG.

The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Responsible for analyzing risk and underwriting all products for Cyber
  • Holds greater underwriting authority and handles larger accounts and/or more complex risks, and multinational accounts or risks located abroad.
  • Reviews new and renewal business submissions, evaluating account performance and risk factors
  • Documents underwriting files according to established guidelines
  • Ensures the quality of the underwriting practice and adheres to Best Practices and underwriting policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the underwriting process (service levels, turn times, error rates, customer experience, and underwriting leakage)
  • Develops renewal negotiation strategies. Presents renewal to justify rates and negotiate the renewal strategy
  • Communicates with producers and clients to ensure common understanding of terms, conditions and ratings, and quotations; and resolves procedural and computational problems of involved, lengthy, multilocation, or difficult risks
  • Maintains effective producer and client relationships
  • Demonstrates intimate knowledge of current regulatory issues, economic indicators, trends and competitor strategies

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in technical underwriting with Cyber products
  • Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and multiple distribution systems
  • Analytical and quantitative skills
  • Process and system skills
  • Strong customer service ethic, with a sound understanding of the business processes
  • Aware of legal and regulatory requirements
  • Strong presentation, prioritization, and time management
  • Fluent in Italian and English
