Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is a shared service organization that delivers services to all Munich Re US P&C Companies and other group entities.


The Workflow and Robotics Process Automation (RPA) team works across the global Munich Re organisation to drive efficiency gains through the implementation and exploitation of end-to-end business process automation solutions.

The team is responsible for two primary platforms - Appian for Workflow Management and BluePrism for Robotics Process Automation (RPA) - and contributes to Munich Re's objective of driving the "digital transformation of the company".


As a Product Manager, you will be accountable for the strategic development and operations of global RPA platform Blue Prism in the Automation workflow portfolio.

You will also be responsible for helping the team deliver global Automation projects leveraging core automation technology products, services and tools, working closely with IT Operations, IT Risk & Security Management, Service Delivery, Application Teams and external managed service providers and vendors globally.

This position will be in MunichRe Americas (Princeton, Hartford or Cincinnati), but can be located in Europe (Munich, London) if an appropriate resource is found locally.


Major Accountabilities:


  • Managing a global strategic IT product/platform

  • Drive from an Product Manager perspective the implementation of business process automation use cases and reporting on delivery commitments to ensure capabilities are implemented as expected and to agreed timeframes
  • Ensure adherence to appropriate standards (performance, monitor capability, automation patterns, audit acceptability, secure environment) and a balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements
  • Overtaking a stable run of the products, including setup and management of all relevant processes for run, support, incident and monitoring aligned with the needs of the business. In case of major incidents escalation and management of solution
  • Constantly checking of incident volume (incl. root causes) and infrastructure settings to setup necessary improvement measures
  • Updating all information to run and develop the products including SLA with business
  • Conducting and updating compliance gates and checking that the products are running secure and compliant including all aspects of VAIT
  • Steering of the ITteams
  • Overviewing product costs and budgets so as software licenses needed for the product on group level.
  • Build strong crossfunctional partnerships at multiple levels with the automation stakeholders within the company

Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:


  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level, preferably in Computer Science, IT or similar field, and 5+ years working as Product Manager on software products and hence indepth knowledge of the processes of the entire software development and product lifecycle
  • Track record of successful implementations that delivered value to the business
  • Experience with agile project management including leading teams and being responsible for all financial aspects
  • Garnered deep knowledge of industry leading business automation solutions (RPA, BPM, Input Management) capabilities (preferably blueprism, APPIAN, smartfix)
  • Experienced in the design of automated business processes involving multiple systems and business departments, preferably with knowledge of business processes in the reinsurance or insurance industry
  • Recognised as a proactive, selfstarter, who is able to work collaboratively across functional boundaries and craft and shape expectations through negotiation and influence to drive results
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of technology with the ability to understand and articulate customer problems, solutions, and possible impacts
  • Experienced managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints and able to estimate the financial impact of architecture alternatives
  • Recognised for being able to handle ambiguity, effectively multitask, deal with complexity, work on multiple projects concurrently, deal with changing priorities and effectively collaborate with stakeholders to produce automation solutions on processes of high complexity
  • Demonstrated necessary gravitas to deal with senior leaders and executives and has excellent verbal and written communications skills (in English to all levels of management)
  • Demonstrated a strong proficiency in project management standards with the ability to setup / steer BPA projects
  • Demonstrated a willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required in execution of duties
