  • Provide global leadership for the product related disciplines in Charging, including: DC hardware, firmware (all embedded software), cloud software, testing and validation, systems engineering, R&D, power modules, medium voltage solutions, bidirectional charging, cabinet design and charge post cable management. The role reports into the Global Vice President and General Manager for Charging.
  • We are looking for an industry leader in DC charging solutions, who understands high power electrical engineering and the overall ecosystem of hardware and software in charging. Our focus is on eDepot and onthego public charging DC high power products.
  • The leader will have a 'product' mindset, encompassing hardware, software, and aftercare (service). A 'customer first' approach is essential, and the incumbent will work closely with the Global Director of Sales and Global Director of Service, as well as the manufacturing plants and their Local Leaders.
  • The incumbent will lead large and diverse teams across 6 locations (California, Michigan, Northern Italy, Shanghai, Xiangyang). Talent management and recruitment are critical aspects to this role, as the team will grow significantly (team size today is around 80 FTEs).
  • This position is responsible for driving product innovation and development from initial concept to launch, working with accelerated timelines and within budget. We are looking for someone who can learn very quickly, is willing to lead effectively despite ambiguity.
  • They will understand the complexity of the EV charging business, including the partnering ecosystem and the interdependency of this, to ensure customer satisfaction. Understanding ISO15118, OCPP and industry related standards and protocols is essential. Interoperability of the charging hardware with the wide variety of vehicles is key. Developing a global lab strategy with the required testing and validation requirement is necessary.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Work closely with sales and customers to ensure a truly 'customer first' approach Overall leadership and management of large diverse [product focused] team Own the 'Product Roadmap' and lead the product prioritisation process Develop new products: R&D execution (working with Sales on R&D strategy) External benchmarking and competitor analysis for DC solutions Member of the Global Charging Leadership team (CLT) Champion for Continuous improvement and operational excellence Provide bridge to (and ensure best practice from) other BorgWarner Engineering teams Ensure product standardisation, and with CLT to drive BOM cost reduction Constantly seek methods to reduce structural operating costs. Develop and operate within budget

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Masters Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering strongly preferred) 5 years+ of EV Charging industry experience
  • DC charging product leadership experience
  • Experience leading large international teams (various time zones)
  • New product development, R&D experience in EV charging
  • Experience managing cloud software teams
  • Knowledge of modern lean techniques and agile product development
  • Knowledge in electrical components and power module technology.
  • Knowledge of EV charging standard ISO and 20 and interoperability challenges
  • Knowledge of EV testing and validation procedures
  • Knowledge of EV charging communication protocols (OCPP)
  • Knowledge of electric safety and functional safety (according to ISO26262)
  • High voltage safety experience preferred
