Job Description:

We are looking for a Lead Warehouse Material Handler for our Applied Medical distribution center in Bologna (Interporto).

The facility distributes our medical device to customers in Italy and the neighboring countries.

In this role, you will will assist and support the Warehouse Manager in ensuring that the Warehouse activities run smoothly, as well as managing a small team.

You will be responsible for the daily operational logistic workflow and the value-added logistics processes in an efficient and effective manner.

Additionally, you will be in regular contact with shipping companies, Customer Service and Quality department.

This role combines operational and administrative tasks:
roughly 70% of your time will be spent on the floor, and 30% in the office.

Being part of an international company, we expect that you have good language skills in both Italian and English. This is essential for the communication with the Head Office in the Netherlands and for participating and following training.

You work in a team of warehouse Material Handlers and report to the Warehouse Manager. The team works fulltime during in normal business hours (Monday to Friday day shifts).

Within Applied Medical, the title of this position is Distribution Center Lead._

Key responsibilities

Ensure adequate and timely processing inbound, stock control, picking, packing, shipping and/or valueadded logistics
Help the manager to make sure the work load is equally divided, define priorities and makes sure that the team achieves the set targets
Identify process improvements areas and suggest solutions
Understand, monitor and act according to Applied Medical's quality systems (QS) and safety rules
Act as first point of contact for team members for operational questions, including questions related to soft

- and hardware

Correspond with shipping contractor for shipping purposes
Spot bottlenecks within working processes and provide advice on improvements
Act as backup for the Manager Distribution Center during his absence
Act as backup for the Material Handlers during their absence
Perform daily cycle counts and help to keep the warehouse tidy and organized

Requirements:

At least vocational education degree
At least 2 years' work experience in a warehouse environment
Experience with transportation processes for incoming and outgoing goods
Experience with quality systems, preferably in Medical Devices, or a related industry
Strong team building skills
Work experience in an international environment is preferred
Good knowledge of MS office, especially Excel
Good English language skills, displayed by your English motivation letter

Nice-to-have:

Experience with SAP
Experience working with transport companies and couriers
