We are looking for passionate, empathetic, flexible, proactive hiking leaders in Puglia and Tuscany.The tour leader shall:
- Take care of the Welcome trip briefing, provide a daily walk and safety briefing, setting out information on the daily program, timing and walk characteristics;
- Liaise with the Tour Manager and Tour Operator ensuring the trip runs successfully, each week;
- Lead the customers on the daily hikes including explanations of the local flora, fauna, local food, culture and customs
- Be a storyteller sharing with the customers indepth local knowledge about the local culture, history, traditions, food, and folklore;
- Ensure the group always remains safe;
- Stay up to date with new activities and attractions that may be of interest to customers;
Tour Leader and trip specifics:
- Period Puglia:
- 29/04/ /06/2023 5 backtoback weeks
- 16/09/ /10/2023 5 backtoback weeks
- Period Toscana:
- 08/04/ /05/2023 4 backtoback weeks
- 02/09/ /09/2023 4 backtoback weeks
- 1week centerbased walking holiday in Puglia or Toscana;
- Group size is minimum 14 maximum 28 clients + 2 walking guides + 1 tour manager from the UK. Final group size is confirmed 30 days before arrival;
- Each walking day clients can choose between an easy and a moderate walk
- Each week there are 5 walking days and 1 sightseeing day. On these days, the tour leader must be available from 8.30am. until the end of the activity approx. 5.00pm.
- Tour leader must participate in 3 group dinners
- Deliver a welcome briefing (90 mins approx.) and daily walk briefing;
- Direct employment contract with the tour operator for the months involved.
- Tour Leader accommodation in the destination is provided by the Tour Operator. It is in a shared apartment not far from the guest's hotel. Each tour leader has a private room and shared bathroom, kitchen and living room.
- Tour Leader to make their own food arrangements when not eating with the group during the group dinners
Requirements:
- tour-leader license valid in Italy;
- Englishspeaker advanced or native;
- First aid course (16 hrs);
- Capacity to stand and walk on moderate to challenging terrain for 6 to 8 hours during consecutive days;
- Aptitude for customer service, empathy and willingness to help the customers with their needs and wishes;
- Indepth local knowledge;
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills;
- Organizational, time management, and problemsolving skills.
- Flexibility and ability to perform minor alterations to each itinerary to suit the unique interests of each group or in the event of force majeure (cancellations, bad weather forecast).
- Adherence to prescribed program and safety codes and measures.
