Purpose:


The RWE scientist (medical affairs) will contribute to the compendium of evidence in support of demonstrating the value of the company's products (across all business units) for PRA, Medical affairs and Brand team in the affiliates supported, by ensuring the affiliate needs are met in a timely and credible manner.

The RWE scientist leads the development of the affiliate RWE strategy and is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate RWE solutions are disseminated and executed within their hub.

The development of the RWE solutions are conducted in close collaboration with the affiliate cross-functional teams and should be aligned with the global brand strategy and VEO strategy.

The RWE Scientist provides scientific expertise, effective project oversight, and vendor management to ensure the successful fulfillment of local RWE projects and studies.

The RWE scientist is responsible for extensive knowledge of local RWE solutions and will build strategic relationships with third parties central to RWE generation, while ensuring following all relevant internal processes.

The RWE scientist will will show business acumen, scientific, and communication capabilities.

Environmental Awareness, Customer Understanding and Best Practice sharing (15%)

  • Achieves strong understanding of external customers by:
  • Establishing and maintaining a broad network with multiple internal and external customers and partners within Lilly and the pharmaceutical industry relevant to RWE
  • Maintaining awareness of significant developments in the local environment, including current RWE methodologies, data sources, current RWE regulations, and regulator/ payer requirements for RWE.
  • Actively participates in shared learning opportunities to effectively share knowledge and experience (both positive and negative) on RWE generation across geographic, functional and therapeutic areas

Evidence Strategy, Cross-Functional Leadership and Integration (35%)

  • Ensures that local RWE needs for pre
- and post
- launch Lilly portfolio are captured in local RWE strategies, affiliate customer plans and VEO plans, and interacts with relevant functions to prioritise and develop these plans.

  • Partners with the right functions (e

g Global/local:

Pricing, Reimbursement & Access (PRA), Value, Evidence and Outcomes (VEO), Market Research, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Global Product Safety, etc.) to ensure local RWE strategies are aligned with local/global/regional brand strategy and follow internal approvals/procedures.


  • Provides RWE scientific expertise, combined with business unit knowledge, to contribute to and effect local crossfunctional initiatives or meetings.
  • Disseminates global/international Lilly research to local functions to ensure integrated evidence generation in local plans.
  • Links RWE scientific expertise with business unit knowledge to influence and effect crossfunctional initiatives within the Principles of Medical Research framework.
  • Ensures increasing internal awareness of the role of RWE

Study Development, Execution and Oversight, inc. Third Party Organization management (35%)

  • The RWE scientist should ensure local RWE solutions are included in the Business Planning, or buyups, and the research should be conducted in alignment with the Principles of Medical Research. Global/ local procedures and local laws should be followed. and appropriate documentation maintained throughout.

database studies, chart reviews, patient preference DCE, patient/HCP surveys, prospective cohort studies, qualitative studies etc )

  • Accountable for the delivery of RWE priorities in the affiliate identified through comprehensive evidence planning and development of the right scientific methods in consultations with, statistics, GSC, PSC, EXPERT, TETRAD (medical affairs, PRA, brand), GPS etc.
