- Lead end-to-end development of scalable and high-performance full-stack applications;
- Architect and design comprehensive and robust full-stack solutions in alignment with business objectives and technical requirements;
- Develop and maintain server-side applications and APIs for live games;
- Assist internal game teams in expanding their game development, including crafting new tools;
- Design and enhance database schemas to ensure data consistency, integrity, and security;
- Enhance application performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in front-end and back-end components;
- Implement and uphold security best practices for data protection and user authentication;
- Conduct code reviews and mentor fellow engineers to ensure top-notch code quality and compliance with best practices;
- Create and manage comprehensive documentation and technical specifications to facilitate understanding and knowledge transfer;
- Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in web development and share insights with the team;
- Participate in agile development processes and contribute to team objectives and goals.
- 7+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer, with a focus on designing and constructing scalable systems;
- Prior experience working on an online game catering to thousands of users;
- Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs;
- Solid grasp of microservices architecture and distributed systems;
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS);
- Experience with a game back-end-as-a-service such as Nakama, Firebase, or Playfab;
- Strong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (React, Svelte) and server-side programming languages;
- Experience in an agile development environment;
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities with other engineers;
- Capability to work autonomously and take charge of projects from inception to completion;
- Sound problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with Unity or other game engines;
- Proficiency with relational and/or NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL);
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes);
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Overview
Arkadium is in search of a skilled and seasoned senior full-stack software engineer to assist in advancing our award-winning games.
While this position allows for remote work, candidates must be accessible during standard hours from 09:00 to 18:00 in the Western European Time (WET) zone - (Portugal time zone), where the majority of our Engineering and Product teams operate. For candidates outside Portugal, you will be brought onboard as a contractor through our international payroll provider.
