Marine Personal Lines Underwriter:


  • Perform the following types of analysis: Risk, Portfolio and Data
  • Uses a combination of logic, analysis, experience, wisdom and advanced methods to make sound, timely decisions and to solve problems
  • Demonstrates the ability to solve difficult problems; creates effective solutions
  • Organizes and expresses complex ideas effectively
  • Provide direction, training and expertise to internal and external partners to influence top line growth and bottom line profitability

  • Ability to negotiate; form effective working relationships across departmental or other boundaries, while maintaining diplomacy
  • Proven ability to weigh multiple factors from changes in the eternal environment to internal constraints in deciding how to position the business to deliver clear, measurable results
  • Listen to seek to understand with concentration and energy
  • Can formulate plausible hypotheses. Risk Management, Continuously review the condition of the market

WE EXPECT:


  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, math, finance or a related field, required (Advanced degree, preferred)
  • A minimum of 3 years of marine personal lines experience, preferred (For Recreational position
- collector vehicle, motorsports, and/or watercraft)

  • A minimum of 2 years of personal lines underwriting experience, preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, analytics and time management skills, required
  • Must have the ability to embrace and promote change
  • Experience with data gathering, financial analytics, and trend identification, preferred
  • Must have strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access, required
  • Prior experience with Cognos, preferred
  • CPCU or other industry coursework/designations, preferred
