    Siemens Mobility is looking for an Apprentice for the Center of Competence in Optimization, in Rome within the Software BUarea who will be trained in 2 years as Operations Research Scientist.

    During the apprenticeship you will receive a comprehensive and state-of-the- art training to develop your personal and professional skills and you will have the support of a mentor to achieve your career steps

    Your Challenge

    As an Operations Research Scientist some of your main activities will be:

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of optimization models to enhance Siemens Mobility's planning software.
  • Employ mathematical programming software tools to devise solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and multi-functional teams to understand business requirements and objectives.
  • Analyze data and take part in workshops to support the development of novel optimization approaches.
  • Stay ahead of the latest research and trends in optimization and operations research.
  • Actively seek ways to improve models, algorithms, and processes
  • Engage in international projects and collaborate with teams from various countries
  • Required entry qualifications:

  • You have less than 30 years of age, in accordance with the Italian apprenticeship contract
  • Recent PhD or PhD candidate nearing completion in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields with a thesis focused on optimization. Candidates with Master's degree candidates may also be considered.
  • Strong foundation in mathematical programming and familiarity with optimization software tools (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi, etc).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Programming skills in language of choice (Python, Java, C++ etc)
  • Proficiency in English and Italian
  • Team player ability, strong communication & interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a changing environment
