Board Member Job Description

Mission:

To rescue and provide a safe habitat for displaced wild animals while promoting coexistence and preservation of their ecosystems.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about wildlife and the environment.

The Wild Paws Board of Directors is a working board which provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance, therefore the expectation is to actively collaborate with our team on an ongoing basis.

Specific responsibilities include:
Leadership, governance and oversight
Active participation and forward thinking to determine the choices for the organization and to to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
Providing ethical financial oversight and stability by upholding Wild Paws foundation of transparency and accountability
Strategic planning and regular evaluation throughout the year of Wild Paws goals and outcomes
Personal accountability and preparation in reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board meetings
Fundraising
Board Members will commit to participating in Wild Paws Mission and to our financial sustainability, ensuring that Wild Paws can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals
Qualifications
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion a commitment to wildlife conservation
Enthusiasm to educate the public about the preservation of wild animals and their ecosystems
Board terms/participation
Board meetings will be held monthly
Service on Wild Paws Board of Directors is without remuneration
Expectation of minimum 5-10 hours per month and more during peak times (i.e. annual planning, summer season, events, etc.)
Most of the work can be done remotely and from anywhere; some BOD meetings and events will be in-person, however if not local, remote arrangements can be made
