WHAT TO EXPECT DAY TO DAY


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join the team based at our office in Parma, largely looking after the accounting and administration tasks for the Italian offices in Parma, Bologna, Pisa & Bari.

The successful applicant can however expect to work closely with Finance Team colleagues at our head office in Lisburn to assist with other tasks as required.

Reporting to the Head Office Finance, you can expect a wide remit that encompasses accounting, administration and taxation.

You will be responsible for all the management accounts of the four Italian entities, assisting with their preparation and owning the year-end financial statement process.

You will work closely with both the external accounting firm as well as with Head Office Finance team in Lisburn.

You will have responsibility for the treasury function and credit control, managing supplier payments and customer receipts and reporting regularly to Head Office.

This position is based in Parma but may require occasional visits to our other sites and offices.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Preparation & review of monthly management accounts.
  • Daytoday accounting for all Italian entities and maintenance of accounting software, including issuing of sales invoices for all Italian entities.
  • Improving and implementing strong financial controls and processes with appropriate reconciliations and internal checks.
  • Ownership of Treasury function including maintaining relationship with banking partners, cash flow management, managing supplier payments and chasing customer debts.
  • Liaising with, reporting to and ad hoc support for Head Office Finance, including administration tasks for the Italian entities.
  • Preparation and review of annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Tax and Transfer Pricing regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with other statutory requirements.
  • Support in grant budgeting and project accounting, with focus on Italian/EU grants.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Strong technical accounting skills including detailed knowledge and understanding of Italian GAAP and other Italian statutory, tax and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Enthusiastic individual who is selfmotivated, proactive and hard working.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with an ability to deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong MS Office skills: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively on crossfunctional teams but also independently when required.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (with recognised Italian Professional Accounting Body).
  • Fluent in Italian and English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with a financial software system applicable to Italy.
  • Ability to travel locally to other office locations (Bologna, Pisa & Bari).
Desirable

  • 2/3 years' post qualification experience within related industry or in management role within practise
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accountancy or closely related discipline.
  • Previous experience with regional (Emilia Romagna), national (Italy) and European public grants
  • Ability to travel internationally if required (occasional)
