Job Overview
Jensen Hughes have a rare and exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Engineer to join our market leading Milan office. Our team specialising in Fire Suppression System Design are looking for someone to help us drive excellence across our projects and deliver world class fire and life safety solutions to our client base in 2026
The successful candidate will be joining an established team who design and inspect active fire protection systems including fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Some travel may be required with the role both within Italy and across Europe. Possibility of overseas travel in the future.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of the fire suppression disciplines on site including Inspections of Fire Protection, Fixed Extinguishing / Sprinkler systems.
• Experienced in producing Fire Suppression system design documents such as drawings, hydraulic calculations for all types of buildings, including but not limited to Residential, Commercial and Industrial Buildings, in accordance with European and Italian standards, NFPA standards and FM Global data sheets.
• Experienced in fire safety and protection for all types of buildings, including a wide variety of occupancy types, in particular industrial facilities, commercial buildings, retail complexes, amongst others. 
• Witnessing testing and commissioning of all fire suppression systems, carrying out regular site inspections during installation and for existing systems. Communicating with clients, architects, consultants from other disciplines, and approval authorities.
• Taking control of current and future projects and ensuring that financial targets of the team are met and exceeded, develop existing relationships with key clients and deliver fire safety engineering solutions.
• Be the expert to our clients and become the all-important first point of call. Lead discussion with design team, building control and fire service.
• Attend industry conferences to network and embrace industry trends and best practices.
• Supervise and train graduate engineers.
• Application of national and international legislation and standards on Fire and Life Safety in the various areas of corporate interest.
  

What you will work on

• Plan and direct engineering activities for your own projects.
• Take the technical lead role of assigned projects.
• Design fire suppression systems.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
  

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in code consulting and design of fire suppression systems, in a project design environment is required.
• A bachelor's degree or higher within any engineering specialities, e.g. civil, mechanical, environmental, chemical.
• Registration on the Mandatory Placement lists pursuant to Law 68⁄99 is preferred.
• The ability to undertake works independently.
• The ability and experience mentoring and managing junior professionals.
• Italian language fluency, written and spoken is essential. Excellent knowledge of English, written and spoken is also required.
• Experience in relevant engineering software such as hydraulic calculation software, AutoCAD, Revit and SprinkCAD etc.
• Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills. The ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies and good communication and negotiations skills
• The possession of registration on the lists of the Ministry of the Interior pursuant to Law 818⁄84 is not mandatory but will be considered as a preferential skill.
• The profile is completed by proactivity, operational autonomy, empathy and aptitude for contact with the customer.
