Corporate Audit Services (CAS) mission is to continuously help ING to get better through supporting management in identifying and managing risks across the organisation.

As the third line of Defence CAS plays a crucial role in giving local and global stakeholders independent assurance on the state of the ING's risk and control environment.

To do so we're developing together with the fast-changing business, operational and regulatory environment, maintaining our skills and capabilities as well as understanding of ING strategy and priorities.


CAS is a global organisation operating from 20 locations around the world according to a common audit methodology and with strong global cooperation.


The Head of Audit Italy is a member of the CAS Global Leadership Team that comprises of the CAS Management Team and the Heads of Audit around the world.


Your Responsibilities


As Head of CAS in Italy, you will be working together with a broad range of senior business stakeholders, across a bank in full transformation.

At ING, expect to discover a new way of banking in an international Agile environment.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and continuously develop the local team of 6-7 auditors.
  • Provide assurance on the Risk & Control environment of ING Bank Italy. This includes keeping the Audit Universe of ING Bank Italy aligned with the organisational developments and global CAS approaches for creating and executing the annual audit plan.
  • Perform, coordinate, and report on internal audits, evaluating the risks and controls of a variety of endtoend processes.
  • As a member of CAS Global Leadership Team, you will be responsible for a specific part of global audit universe acting as a Global Subject Matter Expert (GSME), maintaining standard audit guidance up to date, advising on audits conducted in your area of expertise across ING, and sharing relevant information around the global CAS organisation.
A key element of your responsibilities is excellent stakeholder management, both at local and global level.

In that you stay up-to date on strategic and regulatory developments for ING Bank Italy and the wider ING organisation, create awareness on audit issues identified and keep stakeholders aligned with the activities in the world of audit.

This requires strong involvement at the executive level in ING Bank Italy as well as within global CAS organisation.


Who you are:


  • You have a university degree and preferably more than 15 years of work experience in audit and/or risk management and in people management and their development. You have proficient understanding of banking and internal audit processes, including identifying and evaluating key risks, setting the audit scope, developing audit testing, and managing audit assignments. A strong understanding of the regulatory environment is key.
  • You have strong verbal and written communicative skills and interpersonal capabilities. You know how to ask the right questions and get the right information, even when you have to overcome resistance and you are able to deliver messages in a way that suits different circumstances.
  • You use your strong analytical skills to identify the areas of focus within our banking strategy and individual audits. You are naturally proactive, critical and curious, and you search for missing information on your own initiative.
  • You are creative in your solutions, and you describe yourself as a team player who is capable of working in international teams, as well as independently when the task at hand requires this.
  • You are a people focused leader who is able to influence though content and processes but very much also by making people better by coaching, inspiring and engaging them.
  • You are fluent in English and the knowledge of Italian is a strong plus, and you are willing to travel abroad (approximately 10%).
