Human Technopole (HT) is a new interdisciplinary life science research institute in Milan, Italy with the mission to foster basic and applied research for developing innovative strategies to improve human health.


HT is composed of five centres:
Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Genomics, Neurogenomics and Analysis Decision and Society.

The Centres work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment that will help promote life science research both nationally and internationally.


Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Generating, adopting and optimizing of new tools and protocols.
  • Generating and recording data and protocols for publication.
  • Providing technical support and supervision to other laboratory members, including introduction and teaching of new laboratory techniques and support on the use of lab equipment o lab members and collaborators.;
  • Participating in key aspects of general lab management and organization (e.g., inventories, stocks of plasmids and cell lines, reagents, equipment).

Essentials:


  • A BSc (for Technician) or MSc (for Sr. Technician) in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering or other relevant areas.
  • Considerable experience in laboratories involved in the area of the main responsibilities, with particular emphasis on molecular biology, genomics and microscopy. For a Senior Technician, at least 5 years of proven experience as Laboratory Technician or other relevant scientific/technical positions.
  • Track record in the following areas: transcriptomic technologies (short/long read sequencing library preparation, singlecell/spatial transcriptomics), and/or molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA/protein manipulations, cloning, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation), and/or microscopy (e.g. immunofluorescence, RNA FISH, confocal microscopy), and/or and stemcell derived neurons/organoids (iPS cells, in vitro differentiation protocols, transfections/transductions), and/or gene perturbation approaches (e.g. CRISPR, RNAi, degron systems).
  • Broad technical understanding of the area of genomics, next generation sequencing, cell culture, organoid culture, gene perturbation technologies and other areas of main responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English (HT is an international research institute and English will be the main spoken language in the lab).

Additional desired requirements

  • Willingness to develop their own ideas, protocols and research projects is not necessary but will be positively considered;
  • Previous work with optogenetic techniques or with primary neuronal culture is not necessary but will be considered a relevant asset;
  • Previous work with laboratory animals is not necessary but will be considered a relevant asset;
  • A PhD in a relevant area is not required but will be positively considered;

  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to lead and gain the assistance and cooperation of others in a team endeavour;
  • Ability to build trust through operating with transparency and creating an open and positive environment;
