Role Purpose:


Reporting to the Asset Management (AM) Manager, you will part of a team responsible for governance and Strategy of Software licensing used within Vodafone UK.


  • Your responsibilities will include:


  • Software Asset Management

  • including mitigating financial and/or legal risks,
  • Licensing & Compliance including compliance assurance (CAST-T, ISO27001, Vendor Audits)
  • Strategy and Governance including Policy management, governing controls, monitoring and toolset management
  • IT Asset Security including identification of software and/or hardware risks
  • SLA and KPI adherence, ensuring both team and contracted third parties are accountable for performance, and measures are regularly reported


Working with other AM team members, the role will ensure that Vodafone UK has the proper IT governance in place to mitigate and remove risk to the Organisation.

The role should strive to achieve and maintain a Centre of Excellence for AM in Vodafone and be recognised as such both within Vodafone and the wider AM Community.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Toolsets and Automation
  • Maintain and implement updates to the approved IT software asset management tools (SNOW, Spider)
  • Understand License Management tools, e.g. SNOW Client, spider, VLSC, Adobe CC Portal, Salesforce, Office 36
  • Discovery tool experience, e.g. Microsoft SCCM, ADDM, Microsoft MAP, Active Directory, SNOW, WMI, Citrix
  • Leverage existing / new tools to automate the collection of software information (install & usage) to simplify current processes and provide more focused, exception reporting.
  • Ensure all SAM tools are used appropriately and make recommendations where appropriate for system enhancements
  • Team work and communication
  • Develop and maintain working relationships across all business units to ensure that software use is disclosed and controlled
  • Provide regular insights and reporting to key stakeholders around licence compliance and usage, advising Technology leadership team on strategies
  • Represent AM as the process/governance expert at executive briefings, workshops and external events.
  • Communicate the software usage policy
  • Communicate and maintain the Software Procurement Process together with the Procurement Team
  • Develop strategies and relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business is gaining the best opportunity from SAM.
  • Demonstrate a strong collaboration working style within the team and provide cover for team member absences
  • Take responsibility for your own development, finding ways to develop your skills

Role Dimensions:


  • Responsible for ensuring the UK Annual Software Spend is license compliant (c£46m)
  • Responsible for ensuring software support and maintenance contracts are optimised and fit for purpose
  • Responsible for ensuring the team target of c£2M cost avoidance/cost reduction per annum target is met.
