Underwriting Manager - Personal Lines:


WE OFFER :

The Personal Lines Underwriting Manager leads a team of Underwriters and Associates to build an engaged culture and ensure sound decisions.

This role manages analysis and efficient workflows to support top-line growth and bottom-line profitability objectives.


In addition, the role:

  • Coaches associates to ensure data analysis and underwriting judgment are consistently used to make sound, timely decisions.
  • Mentors associates in career development and holds oneonone meetings.
  • Leads a team of underwriters and builds a motivated, curious, collaborative, and engaged culture.
  • Manages associates and team: performance, service levels, back log, work load, and organization.
  • Ensures compliance to policies, rules and regulation through portfolio reporting and policy level quality validation audits.
  • Operates in a professional, customer friendly manner even with adverse decisions.
  • Conducts data analysis on portfolios of risk to identify issues and trends.
  • Identifies workflow, process improvements and documents business requirements for change.
  • Collaborates with other departments to resolve issues through a team approach.
  • Hires, trains, and develops associates while managing resource capacity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WE EXPECT:


Qualifications:


Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree, Supervisor's certification, CPCU or other industry coursework/designation.
  • 3+ years of underwriting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, time management, and process improvement skills.

Preferred:


  • Advanced Degree in applicable field.
  • Insurance background and/or data analytics experience.
  • 2+ years supervising exempt associates, teams or process, preferably in underwriting.
  • Advanced skill in Excel, Cognos, or Access.
  • Ability to embrace and promote change.
