Job Purpose:


The general purpose of this position is to ensure that the materials needed in manufacturing production are secured in a timely manner, meet quality specifications, and are purchased at the best cost available.

This position will be responsible for processing purchasing transactions, in addition to higher level sourcing decisions and supplier negotiations. This role is also the gatekeeper of the technical data in SAP system.


Responsibilities:


  • Anticipate and negotiate price changes. Negotiate supply agreements.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape of the wastewater treatment industries in order to make informed procurement recommendations and decisions.
  • Foster and manage a productive relationship with targeted raw material and transportation suppliers to identify and deliver value added propositions. This includes supplier meetings to discuss purchases to date, anticipated future volumes, pricing and delivery issues, etc.
  • Collaborate with technical personnel to help determine what raw materials are needed for new products and product enhancements. Survey market for best sources and negotiate most favorable pricing.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and determine worthiness to satisfy Company requirements in relation to quality, delivery and pricing
  • Award bids based on evaluation of quality, price and suppliers' ability to meet requirements
  • Maintain documentation of supplier bid awards to support objective selection
  • Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Manage supplier complaints, settle disputes and resolve conflicts to acceptable purchasing standards and until corrective action is acceptable to the company
  • Assist accounts payable personnel with supplier invoice issues
  • Monitor and approve new vendor requests
  • Interact with onsite contractors to confirm that Company requirements are met in relation to safety and liability insurance
  • Assist corporate marketing department with new products sourcing and design
  • Identify the developmental needs of others in understanding the purchasing process and provide the coaching required to achieve positive results
  • Establish objectives and strategies to identify potential moneysaving opportunities
  • Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with critical suppliers

Requirements & Qualifications:


  • The incumbent of this position must possess a College Degree in Business Administration or three to five years professional buying experience in pertinent industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluent English
  • Knowledge of SAP MRO system.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Negotiation training and or a purchasing background desired.
  • Possesses welldeveloped communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Addresses inquiries and resolves problems by using appropriate resources/other departments to achieve results/answers.
  • Present a professional attitude and handle confidential information according to nondisclosure guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a high paced and multitask environment.
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Wellorganized and detail oriented.
  • Selfmotivated and able to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Occasional business travel (less than 5%) is required.
