    MATERIALS HANDLER (FORKLIFT OPERATOR)

    Hauptaufgaben

    Incumbent records serial numbers/bar codes where applicable and assures all serial numbered items are located in correct systems and kits are stored in proper locations. Prepares and maintains various reports on the warehousing operation and tracks item maintenance. Performs initial inspection on equipment requested for issue/shipment verifying proper condition prior to issue. Using standard test procedures and systems test sets and tools provided, must be able to perform function checks to insure items are operationally ready for issue, i.e., items awaiting turn –in. Operates warehouse using accepted methods, procedures and techniques. Using knowledge of the overall plan, selects storage use, size quantity Knows proper method of loading a truck. Maintains records on inventory of supplies and materials. Must be skilled in the operation of electric, diesel, or gasoline powered forklift/ trucks to move, stack, unstack, load, unload materials in and about warehouses, storage area, loading docks, etc. Confirms requests for issues and turn-ins, reports known conflicts, which would impact on mission accomplishment. Reports all equipment losses and provides related information to assist in report of survey actions. Assembles stock for issues or shipments. From documents locates items, compares information of document/work order with that in stock, selects and assembles items for issue or shipments. Transfers stock to specifically prescribed warehouse or storage locations and places or directs the placing of stock completing supply documents. Performs or directs loading of trucks or other conveyances, assures items to be shipped are properly marked, tagged, labeled and/or in properly marked containers, tallies out shipment and completed documents, signing as out-checker. Unloads designated conveyances. Checks trucks for evidence of damaged supply, performs or directs unloading, palletizing, and stacking of stock, opens and segregates mixed packs, checks stock against document for agreement, brings discrepancies to attention of supervisor, signs documents as in-checker. In addition to the foregoing, may count and report count during inventories, repack items in broken containers and other related tasks. Polices warehouse, storage areas, docks and adjacent areas. He/she operates forklifts and is required to frequently participate in elementary English conversation.

    NOTE: Tour of duty is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 08.00 to 17.00, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break

    1. ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION;
    2. WORK PRACTICES (INCLUDES KEEPING THINGS NEAT, CLEAN AND IN ORDER);
    3. TECHNICAL PRACTICES (THEORETICAL, PRECISE);
    4. ABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATION, ETC;
    5. KNOWLEDGE OF MATERIALS;
    6. DEXTERITY AND SAFETY.
