Gorgonzola hosts Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain.


The activity of NAS domain:

avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world.

Italy is the Group's Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.


The Safety and Certification Manager position is part of Engineering Department, and consists globally in performing the safety related activities and managing the certification of dedicated products and/or projects to ensure and demonstrate that the product safety objectives and the certification baseline have been met, throughout the entire life cycle of the product/solution development.


The Safety and Certification Manager:

  • Maintain and improve the Business Line Safety and Certification Referential
  • In Bids he/she:
  • Identifies the applicable safety objectives and certification requirements
  • Define strategy to comply with safety and certification requirements
  • Identifies risks associated to customer safety and certification objectives and/or regulation and standards
  • Support cost estimate regarding safety and certification aspects
  • In Project/Product development he/she
  • Interfaces the customer certification authority and ensures the product obtain the final certification
  • Support teams in writing the development assurance plans
  • Conducts the safety activities: Hazards identification and severity classifications, architecture safety assessment, design safety assurance allocations, final system safety assessment
  • Raises safety risks such as unachieved safety objectives, completeness and correctness of safety assessment and proposes adequate mitigations
  • Provides internal communication and external to customers in accordance with product/project management
  • He/She contributes to safety assurance for products/solution in operation by analysing unsafe events and proposing mitigation plans
  • He/She disseminates and promotes safety and certification cultures

QUALIFICATIONS
University Master of Science (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics)

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge in the Air Traffic Management (ATM) domain and a good understanding of the underlying implementation technologies.
  • Ability to evaluate Safety Regulation requirements and Safety Projects requirements and to assess the adequacy of the proposed Safety Solution.
  • Strong knowledge in European and US certifications process (CS25.1309, IR ATM/ANS (EU) 2017/373) and able to evaluate certification requirements
  • Working knowledge of system safety tools and techniques including Fault Tree Analyses, Event Tree Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
  • Mastering combinatorial and probabilistic analysis
  • Language: fluent English

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Working knowledge of system engineering, software and hardware processes
  • Experience of Safety audit
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as German, Italian or French
  • Knowledge of system safety assessment standards: EUROCONTROL Safety Assessment Methodology (SAM), ARP 476
  • Knowledge of System / Software / Hardware development assurance standards:ED 79A/ARP 4754A, EUROCAE ED109A (RTCA DO278A), EUROCAE ED80 (RTCA DO254), EUROCAE ED15
  • Knowledge of System Reliability Theory
