The Role


We are now recruiting the
Human Resources Director Italy, who will be accountable for the design and delivery of the People strategy across BMS Italy.

The Human Resources Director will be a key member of the Italy leadership team, partnering and serving as a key strategic advisor to the General Manager and the Matrix leadership team.

This individual will also be a key member of the Major Markets Human Resources Leadership Team.


Key responsibilities
Strategy & Execution

In joint partnership with the Italy General Manager and the other key Italy business leaders, the HR Director Italy is accountable for:

  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives in line with the business strategy.
  • Establishing programs that attract, retain and develop competitively superior leaders and team members
  • Participating in shaping the organizational and cultural strategies to support ongoing innovation and change
  • Executive coaching of GM and other members of the leadership team
  • Leading the labour relations strategy and maintaining an effective relationship with Works Councils and Unions
  • Effectively delivering HR services which contribute to achieving superior business results.
  • Ensuring people are treated fairly and employee concerns are surfaced and acted upon in a timely manner.
  • Modeling and championing the operating culture needed to promote superior business results
  • Partnering with Centers of Expertise for expertise, support, and best practices sharing
  • Setting specific goals and metrics and actively and continuously communicates them across the organization.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the internal organization and external environment impacting the company
  • Monitoring compliance with all applicable BMS policies and seeks appropriate counsel
  • Balancing strategic with operational effectiveness.
  • Acting as a trusted business partner for all divisions
  • Managing a team of direct HR generalists and matrix HR specialist (Talent Management/Acquisition, Total Rewards, People Services) professionals in the markets
  • Driving organizational commitment to leverage diversity to our competitive advantage

Experience and Reuirements:

Masters Degree desired:

Minimum of 12 years HR experience, preferably in an international environment:


  • Prior experience as an HR Director and/or significant expertise in a HR specialty, supporting client groups:
  • Broad crosscultural experience. Ability to "flex" across different types of cultures, work, complexities, business situations and matrix partners.
  • Proven track record in developing people and developing leaders.
  • Proven experience in managing a team across a region is a clear advantage
  • Experience in performing effectively in a matrix, cross
- functional and team environment.

  • Demonstrated use of communication and change management strategies/tactics to influence new ways of thinking and working.
  • Project management skills.
  • Fluent in Italian and English (Written and spoken)
