THE EMPLOYER
The
University of Milan is a major teaching and research institution located in one of Europe's most thriving cities. It is ranked in the top 200 Institutions in the Shanghai Ranking of World Universities. The
Department of Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods (DEMM) is a research intensive department established in 2012.

DEMM's faculty members mostly belong to three main research areas
:
Economics
(from SECS-P/01 to SECS-P/06),
Management (from SECS-P/07 to SECS-P/12), and
Statistics/Mathematics (from SECS-S/01 to SECS-S/06).


DEMM's research activity in Economics spans across several fields. These include, among others, micro and macroeconomics, time series and micro-econometrics, international and industrial economics, monetary and financial economics, public economics and health economics, the economics of education and labor economics, development economics and the economics of innovation, energy and environmental economics, economic history and history of economics. The research activity in Finance and Management includes economics of banking, economics of financial markets and intermediaries, corporate finance, management, economics of knowledge, start-up, and public management. DEMM's research in Statistics and Mathematics is highly diversified both in the theoretical and in the applied areas. Research activity is focused on latent variable analysis, optimal experimental design, Bayesian methods, categorical analysis, inequality measurement, MCMC algorithms, optimization methods and dynamical systems analysis, data matching techniques and machine learning. The latest Italian research evaluation exercise (VQR placed DEMM among the top 10 departments in the area of economics, management and statistics in Italy.
DEMM was also selected as one of the "Departments of Excellence" (Dipartimento di Eccellenza) by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR).
