We are looking for a Computer Vision Engineer with at least 2 years of experience in computer vision applied to medical imaging field. As part of our Computer Vision team we expect the candidate to help us discover the information hidden in radiological and histopathological medical image data, and help us make smart decisions to deliver even better clinical services. The main objective of the research activity is building Generative AI-base models and products to perform synthetic data generation and validation of hematological data over a federated computing framework.
You will be part of the Humanitas AI Center reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer. The AI Center of Humanitas, a fast-paced research team at one among Italy's best institutions working in the biomedical research field, is focused in research in the field of Artificial Intelligence applied in healthcare. Research and development areas include predictive and decision-support systems based on data-driven model (ML/DL models) to optimize clinical processes and ultimately improve the quality of patient care. We are a team of multidisciplinary scientists who work day by day on e-health and AI projects, by collaborating with clinical staff (doctors, nurses, researchers) and management staff.
Main activities
• Collaborate in research and development of innovative techniques for anonymization & synthetic data generation in rare hematological diseases;
• Explore, define and support the validation of the deep learning and machine learning models in order to obtain useful tools to be applied in the biomedical field;
• Contribute to solutions design and establishment of requirements;
• Exploratory data analysis on clinical data and integration of highly fragmented data;
• Self and team-management on individual and team-sized studies' deadlines;
• Data visualization and effective results reporting;
• Collaborate with international partners on cross-academic research projects.
Candidate profile
We are looking for motivated candidates who appreciate challenging tasks, objectives and are strongly oriented to both scientific excellence, high performances computing and human relationships.
Mandatory Requirements
• Master in a STEM related field
• +2 year of experience in in computer vision applied to medical imaging field (e.g. Digital Pathology, CT, MRI, CR, DTS, etc.)
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Italian
Hard Skills
• Strong understanding of Deep Learning models, especially of generative approaches
• Experience in developing generative AI models (e.g. GAN, VAE, Diffusion Models, etc.) applied to medical data for synthetic data generation
• Advanced proficiency in Python and experience with data science/computer vision frameworks: pytorch, tensorflow, openCV, scikit-learn, scipy, pandas, numpy
• Ability to design and implement algorithms for tasks such as image preprocessing, image classification, object detection, image segmentation and image synthesis
• Good knowledge of Machine Learning techniques (e.g. k-NN, SVM, Random Forests, etc) and applied statistics (e.g. distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc)
• Experience with cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure) and/or distributed computing (HPC)
• Knowledge of MLOps practices, IT infrastructures, back end frontend development is appreciated
We can offer a fixed-term contract. Contract duration, salary, as well as employment level, will be defined based on candidate's profile.
