Working closely with Global Beverage Director, the Beverage Manager is responsible for creating, developing and implementing the Beverage product on board MSC vessels.

In order to achieve the highest results in terms of passengers' satisfaction and on-board revenue, the job holder analyses all relevant results, proposing new strategies and continuous improvement.


Organisational Context:


The F&B Operation Department includes several units where the yearly product and strategy are designed, coordinated with other areas of the business, communicated to the personnel on board for execution and verified by F&B Operations Managers.


The main units are the following:

  • Food (Fleet Executive Chefs)
  • Beverage (Beverage Managers)
  • Dining Services
  • F&B Operations Managers
  • Marketing
  • Editing

  • Enhance overall onboard revenue
  • Strong experience in cruise\/tourism industry, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Strong background in the bar\/beverage field working with diverse teams.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing Beverage personnel.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills to challenge and support collaborators.
  • Analytical skills to analyze and read complex data.
  • Capability to adapt on using different operating systems and business programs (Crunchtime, MMS, OIM, Calcmenu, Otalio, etc.)
  • Fluent English. Second language required.
  • In line with the Company guidelines, creates the Beverage product offered on board the fleet, develops operation manuals\/instruction and related promotional activities, ensuring established quality and cost\/revenue standards.
  • Creates and defines the Beverage product offered on the different canvas and units of the fleet designing an appropriate product for every geographical area and offering a tailored offer, based on itinerary and taste of the different types of passengers on board.
  • Understands cruise market drivers and uses that knowledge to create the Beverage product and manuals to be delivered on board vessels.
  • Addresses potential problems\/conflict situations in its business area.
  • Prepares and ensures implementation of Standard Procedures in order to align product and service offered on board the fleetManages and implements ad hoc projects.
  • Verifies Beverage costs and carries out benchmark of Beverage product providing feedback.
  • Monitors overall onboard revenue results and suggests action to improve quality and profits.
  • Analyses comment form result for each season providing feedback.
  • Proactively keeps up to date with all markets development innovations and uses this information to come up with creative thinking, future envisioning and recommendations.
  • Liaises with other areas of the business to align common actions and goals in order to provide an excellence of service to our customers and to achieve Beverage targets.
  • Working together with F&B Operations managers, supervises Beverage operations on board to ensure the achievement of established quality and cost\/revenue standards.
  • Trains Beverage crew staff on board and supports them making sure they are properly trained on quality and service standards and have the product knowledge needed to carry out their job function.
  • Supports the Beverage on board personnel in achieving the goals set.
  • Evaluates Beverage on board personnel and defines job rotation based on the performance results.
  • Shares with Marketing activities plan, promotions, special events and innovations.
  • Shares with the Procurement Dpt. strategies and feedback to improve service.
  • Participates in development of company operation system (Crunchtime, Otalio, etc.).
  • Creates and implements events to be shared with the Entertainment\/Hotel Dept.
