JOB PURPOSE:

The Operations Manager reports to the Senior Operations Manager, Italy. Responsible for business operations and H&S management enquiries relative to the Burberry site.

He/she is responsible for the implementation of actions in compliance with legal security, and for assisting with the on-going development and implementation of Burberry's operational excellence strategy and standards of excellence.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • GENERAL OPERATIONS
  • Ensure all operational aspects (heating, lighting, ventilation, production equipment etc) are working effectively and inspected periodically.
  • Manage suppliers and technicians supporting operational activities for the site.
  • Monitor contractors and maintenance providers when on site and ensure they are working safely and their work is delivered to a high standard.
  • Reporting activities related to different areas under his/her responsibility.
  • HEALTH AND SAFETY
  • Be the point of contact and coordinator for all H&S management enquiries and give advice and support.
  • Partner with the site RLS(s), Global health and safety team, external RSPP and the appointed Occupational Doctor on all occupational health and safety related (proactive & reactive) matters.
  • Supports the external RSPP in all Burberry and statutory requirements, DVR, Duvri, etc.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors/inspectors to ensure that support is provided to facilitate health and safety actions. This will include undertaking audits as well as reviewing draft audit reports for accuracy and relevance and managing site action plans.
  • Coordinate and support site H&S committee meetings with agenda and preparations and ensure minutes have been issued and distributed.
  • Partner with the regional HR team on global Wellbeing programmes and other occupational health issues. Complete/advise on person specific assessments (return to work, pregnancy, disability etc.) where necessary.
  • In partnership with the operational management teams, reduce health and safety risk throughout the site.

This includes, but is not limited to:
H&S coaching/training, observing and influencing safe behaviours on production lines.

  • Ensure all health and safety incidents are recorded on Burberry's Global Management System and follow up to ensure that the correct categorisation is made. Provide assistance and support to managers and personally investigate serious health and safety incidents to identify underlying causes.
  • CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY
  • Support the CR team in managing existing and new partners.
  • Timely onboard new partners (send and receive all relevant documents).
  • Conduct monitoring activities in the supply chain within given deadlines.
  • Reporting against the identified targets/projects shared with the resource.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure solid and full communication with CR team is in place.
  • Engage external partners in compliance initiatives (training/visit/meetings/ad hoc initiatives) which might improve their current workers' wellbeing.
  • WORKPLACE SERVICE
  • Coordinate and support all the reception activity.
  • Coordinate all the support service needed on site.
  • Ensure that all Burberry policy are implemented on site.

PERSONAL PROFILE:


  • Demonstrated operational manager experience, preferably within a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Degree in relevant areas (environmental, sustainability, csr and similar).
  • RSPP or ASPP experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge in health, safety and environment management systems, environmental discharges, incident command system, incident investigation, HSE or CR auditing techniques, industrial hygiene, chemical risk, SA8000, ISO 14001:2004 and ohsas 1800
  • Languages: Italian and English (essential).
